Esther Coeus
Our Lady, Esther Coeus is known for many things. She is known for her position as a Constant, essentially acting as a government official who oversees activity within the universes the Realm Goddess has created or laid claim to. She is known for her work as a High Necromancer, being the last remaining person to bear such a title, having killed the others herself. Finally, she is known for her work on the Artifacts, being the creator of the Book, the Pen, and the Ink, as well as the Stopwatch and the Garden.
Generally, Esther Coeus is known for her composed, cunning, and ingenious natures. She is valued for these traits by the people around her. She is widely known, being respected by figures like Vel Realm, Unending Tempest, and the Visitor. Even the Realm Goddess, though tricked by her, holds a great deal of respect for her. This respect isn't unearned. The feats she has performed are certainly worthy of admiration. The Artifacts, for example, are quite the project.
Esther creates her Artifacts through the use of obtaining something divine (generally a god's flesh) and imbuing its power into an object, using a sacrifice's will as the connecting force. Her sacrifices are generally death row inmates taken from the various domains of the Realm Goddess, supplied to her thanks to her status as a Constant. Her process of obtaining these pieces of divinity generally involves deceit and seduction—for example, with the Realm Goddess, she managed to obtain a cut of the Demiurge's flesh after a romantic fling distracted her long enough for Esther to take a cut. She then used that flesh to create the Book, the Pen, and the Ink, all Artifacts capable of rewriting any world's
Esther is also a mother. None of her children are biologically related to her, all being adopted. Her children include (in age order) Gaia T. Coeus, Hyperion T. Coeus, Thea T. Coeus, Caelum A. Coeus, Crow A. Coeus, and Coelus A. Coeus. While Esther had no hand in the creation of most of her children, Gaia was created through Frankensteining together spare parts from the various sacrifices Esther created, and Crow and Coelus were both attempts to create a living Artifact, with Coelus being the more successful of the attempts. Thea is perhaps the most well-known of Esther's children, making a strong impression on whoever she meets. While Hyperion and Thea tend to carrying on Esther's legacy publicly, Caelum works from the shadows to orchestrate both their successes.
Esther's appearance is unassuming. She is often found wearing long, flowing dresses, along with wide-brim hats. She is white, coming from an upper middle class background and having been born and raised in a suburban environment. She has black hair, her hair dyed green in a pattern resembling a spiral.

To say that every one of her children is "adopted" is ultimately inaccurate. While Gaia, Crow, and Coelus were obviously created by Esther, Hyperion, Thea, and Caelum were all abducted, with Esther having stolen them from their homes. Esther raises her children to be her personal servants, intending them to carry out her legacy and mimic her actions after her death. Esther is a woman who seeks power over others, and her children are no different.
The reader may have noticed that despite Esther being white, every one of her children is Chinese. This is not an oversight, but rather an intentional act on the part of Esther. Both her power over any racial minority as a white woman and her overt fetishization of East Asian cultures is what leads her to only ever abduct Chinese children. In their childhoods, the Coeus siblings were subject to abuse from Esther, both physical and sexual. Their loyalty and adherence to Esther's plans for them is one born out of fear for their mother and the way she's treated them.
Esther only accepts her children having any selfhood when it's something she can abuse and fetishize. Each of her children are deprived of having anything in their life that couldn't be tied directly to Esther. For example, all of Esther's children are given Greek (importantly, overtly white) names (apart from Crow, who chooses their name themself post-transition and after fleeing from Esther's control). Thea particularly is given the name of the Titan Theia, though the I is removed—so too is anything she can call "I," call her own.
Esther's treatment of her children is known to very few, with one of the only people aware of it being Vel Realm, who turns a blind eye out of guilt. In an accident during the youth of Pluto IX, Vel Realm killed her, then brought Pluto to Esther in a panic in order to seek her resurrection. Pluto's heightened strength, endurance, and ability to regenerate come from Esther experimenting during Pluto's resurrection. Feeling indebted to Esther, Vel has stayed silent about their knowledge of the matters. It is precisely their bringing of Pluto to Esther that makes Esther's eyes set on her, however. Pluto received the Pen as a gift from Esther for her ninth birthday, and Esther intended to attempt to groom Pluto by her thirteenth birthday—however, Pluto had run away from home and started her own adventures by that point, causing Esther to lose sight of it.
In general, Esther seeks power over others and seeks a strong legacy. Her treatment of her children is to achieve both those goals.
